Purpose of the Projects Board

The Projects Board, as a standing committee of the USG, is empowered with two principal functions. First, the Board is to serve as one of the primary funders for all campus events and activities initiated by student groups having "541 accounts" recognized by the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students (ODUS) and the USG. Second, the Board, as an expert body with regard to the planning and administration of campus events, is to act in an advisory role to organizations, facilitating relevant information to event organizers. The Projects Board is here to help you!

Projects Board Home Page

The Projects Board home page is the one-stop source for funding information. There are various links full of information regarding student group funding, department/program manager contacts, important meeting dates, application deadlines, Projects Board Charter, etc.

The following information can be found on the Projects Board Home Page:
1. The Online Application Form
2. How to Apply for Funding
3. Sample Applications & The Projects Board Application Archives

The most important piece of information on the home page is the online application form. The application is no longer done on paper. It is laid out in a user-friendly format that facilitates the comprehensive review process used by the Projects Board.

Please be as precise as you can in quoting cost figures. The best thing to do is to get exact prices from vendors. This way, you can be sure when calculating costs. Some of the sections do not apply to all events. For instance, some events do not have food. In this case, just leave that section blank and place a $0 in the subtotal for that particular section.

Knowledge of the Projects Board deadlines is key to planning and running a successful event. There are two important Projects Board dates that are associated with every funding request. The first is the online application deadline. The application deadlines are always Mondays by noon. Please visit the URL that contains application deadline dates.

The second important date is the actual Projects Board meeting date. It is typically three days (Thursdays) after you submitted the application. If you submitted the application, you must attend the meeting that you selected. Please have at least one representative from your organization at that meeting. And make sure this representative is knowledgeable with the event details, the budget, and Projects Board funding procedures. You are more than welcome to have two or three representatives from your organization at the meeting. (The more the merrier!) It is great way for new officers of your organization to become familiar with the Projects Board process.
