Letter from the Elections Manager
Officers - Elections

Dear Class of 2013

The votes for class officers for 2013 are tallied and online at https://princeton-helios.appspot.com/helios/elections/fall-2009/view.  I am pleased to announce Alice Su as your secretary and Cameron Hough as your social chair for the class of 2013.  Since there was no majority for either president or treasurer, we will be holding a runoff election between the top two candidates in these categories this coming Monday, October 27, to determine the winner.

On Monday shortly after voting began, I discovered that I had accidentally misspelled the email addresses of two of the candidates for vice president while sending important campaign reminders, and that neither of them knew to put their statement online.  Since their statements were not online at the time election went live and were added after three hours of voting, I determined that this may have put these candidates at a disadvantage based on my mistake.  In the interest of equitability, I have decided that the only appropriate action is to conduct a revote for the office of vice president concurrently with the run off on Monday.  In the event that a run off is required from the vice president revote, it will take place on November 10th after we return from fall recess.

To prevent my mistake from reflecting poorly on the improvements that have been made to our election system, Connor and I have decided that it is in our best interest that I step down from my position as elections manager at the end of this elections cycle.  The unfortunate mishap aside, everything went extraordinarily well with the first launch of Helios from our end.  I am confident that the software put in place by Michael Yaroshefsky will continue to ensure smooth and secure elections.  But we are eager to hear your thoughts.  Please let us know what you thought of Helios by filling out our very brief survey or by emailing Michael .  Your comments will help us refine Helios for future elections.

Sincerely,

Addie Darling ‘12
