All candidates in contested elections were given the opportunity to respond to a four question survey during campaigning week. Candidates not listed did not respond to the survey. This is how they answered:
2013 Treasurer

What are three things you would do next year if elected? |
What experiences have you had that make you a good candidate? |
What's the best class you've taken at Princeton? |
How would you defend Nassau Hall from a Zombie invasion? |
| Hanna Tian |
1)Wine & cheese + yummy desserts in the Art Museum
2)Kegs and Eggs (Breakfast party with kegs)
3)Amazing senior year giveaways/gear (i.e. bath robes & flip flops)
|
I have experience in filing financial paper work for class 2013 at West College ( every month for the past 3 years). I have also worked on many class events including class BBQ, semi-formals, study breaks, etc. AND I look forward to organizing even better events next year.

Get Class of 2014 specific gear.
Organize larger events to get our whole class together.
Work to get our class more representation with administration and get our voices heard.
|
I led many successful USG projects including the Free Food List, Class of 2015 Website, and U-Bikes Initiative.
I considerable experience working with administration, something class government could do more.

Christian Ethics and Modern Society with Eric Gregory. |
Call General Petraeus. Zombies are nothing an airstrike can't handle. |
| Jason Adleberg |
To say I'd do anything alone is a bit misleading, because I've found that planning awesome, big events is all about teamwork. But a few ideas:
a) Dinner series for meeting professors as prospective JP + thesis advisors
b) Lead design of the pre-rade t-shirts again
c) Pub nights.
|
Being a class officer is simply about bringing the class together, and no one person can do this alone. I've always loved being on teams, from soccer to music, and working with the gang this year to plan things out, like the Black and Orange Ball, really reinforced how much I value teamwork. |
I'd say it's a tossup between COS126 and the architecture studio class I'm taking right now, ARC204. Both awesome classes. |
Totally filling this out in between rounds of dodgeball -- so probably a bunch of dodgeballs. |

High School: president of Finance Academy (350 kids), president BETA club, varsity tennis captain.

I am really enjoying Women's Leadership in Modern America taught by Professor Jackson-Weaver. I was inspired to run for president because of the readings and discussions we had in class. |
First I would call the US president. Wait...he would not care. Then I would summon the elves of Middle Earth (Legolas!). Finally, I would project an OChem lecture at them. |

I'll work hard to give our class awesome events, I'll listen to your ideas and try to bring them to life, and I'll throw a toga party just for the heck of it.
|
I have a passion and a talent for entertaining and bringing people together. Also, I'm a photographer and a graphic designer on campus, so I can deliver awesome class gear.

POL 327: Mass Media and American Politics is really fun. We spent today's class looking at The Daily Show's influence on voters. |

I know how to make the most out of a budget, dedicate time efficiently, and put student interests into action after being on USG PBoard and Social Committee. |
Medical anthropology! I can't help it--I'm a pre-med and it is a fascinating way to approach medicine. It's a nice break from the usual problem sets and lab reports! |

2015 |
Informal language-learning seminars, more interdisciplinary science-humanities classes, and structured, US-sponsored dance workshops. |
I've spent 2 of the past 3 years living and working in Morocco, Shanghai, Beijing, and Cambodia. I'm good at listening to people, negotiating, and resolving conflicts. |
Politics of Japan with Professor David Leheny. |
Barricade the doors with the tiger statues, hole up in the clock tower, and lob the class plaques at the zombies. |
| Elektra Alivisatos |
2014 |
1. NYC-style restaurant week for students
2. Continued work on Mental Health Initiative
3. Sustainability issues, and housing issues
|
During my past year on U-Council I have learned how to successfully organize and execute a project. This means I will be able to continue to help make your Princeton experience an even better one. |
I really love Medical Anthropology because the readings are actually engaging and my professor is so wonderful and passionate about the subject! |
Unearth the cannon from cannon green and use its ancient, legendary abilities to quell the zombie outbreak. That's why they buried it there in the first place. Just in case.... |
| Paul Riley |
2015 |
I would look at the academic calendar and the food options on campus, and, as a representative of the entire student body, I would find ways to promote inter-grade communication. |
Serving four consecutive years on student council and being on the Mathey College Council and the USG Projects Board, I have the much needed experience to serve as a U-Councilor. |
I have enjoyed all of my classes, which include: Becoming Commander-in-Chief (Freshman Seminar), American Politics, Introduction to Macroeconomics, Spanish 101/102, Arab-Israeli Conflict, African-American Literature, and how could I forget…Writing Seminar. |
I would leave Joline Hall and run through the courtyard until I could visibly confirm the invasion. Once confirmed, I would get my phone and, without thinking twice, call P-Safe. |
| Haebin Kim |
2013 |
Expand USG’s affordable summer storage (which I started) to make it available to everyone who needs one; increase Friday social events like Garden Theatre movies; foster more meaningful interactions between under and upper classmen. |
Being in the USG for three years taught me how to actually translate people’s ideas and concerns into concrete USG projects that make a real impact. |
Political Economy by Professor Romer. This class completely changed the way I view the government and how they make policy decisions. |
I would set free 5000 puppies and have them go after Zombies’ juicy bones. |
| Katherine Clifton |
2015 |
1. Smile
2. Listen to fellow students
3. Pay your thoughts and ideas forward
It's nearly impossible to say for certain what we'd actually do, but I know I'd try my best to turn what I've heard from students into positive action.
|
Student government in high school, Bridge year, but mainly just through talking to fellow students and hearing about what they think would make Princeton even better than it already is. |
POL 332 Topics in American Statesmanship |
Zombies don't really care about buildings, they're after humans. So I think the best way to defend it would be to not defend it at all and instead to evacuate everyone. |

effective investment oversight committee.

Text of referendum: This amendment to the constitution will change the election of class officers for subsequent freshmen classes. Instead of freshmen being elected for specific positions, all candidates will run for a seat on the Class Council. The five candidates with the most votes will win the election.
The purpose of this amendment is to allow for a more fluid and flexible allocation of responsibility within the council so that the freshmen can learn about the duties of all the different positions. When running in the fall, the candidates may not fully understand the purpose of the council or the positions; this would allow freshmen to make informed decisions about which positions to run for in subsequent elections and thereby more effectively serve the student body. Lastly, this change would allow voters to gain a better idea of the purpose of Class Government before electing candidates that would likely have held the same position for multiple years.
Appropriate changes to the election manual will reflect the changes in the constitution. The change in the constitution will result in Article VIII, Section B to read as:
SECTION B. ELECTION OF CLASS OFFICERS
In accordance with USG elections regulations, within the first two months of the fall semester the freshman class shall elect five members of the Freshman Class Council to serve for the remainder of their freshman year. The freshman class council will be comprised of five members of equal responsibility who will work collaboratively to fulfill the duties outlined in Section A. The officers would be elected based on approval voting as outlined in the elections manual.
In the spring, the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes shall elect a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Social Chair to serve for the term of one year beginning after the last day of final examinations for the spring semester during which the officers were elected. If there are three or more candidates for a class officer position and if no candidate succeeds in obtaining a majority of votes cast, the two candidates receiving the most votes shall enter a run-off election.
